The EU Declaration of Conformity is the manufacturer's formal declaration that the packaging complies with the applicable requirements of the PPWR. It identifies the packaging, the manufacturer and the relevant requirements used to demonstrate conformity.

When Is a PPWR Declaration of Conformity Required?

The PPWR requires manufacturers to draw up an EU Declaration of Conformity for packaging before placing it on the EU market. The declaration must be supported by the required conformity assessment and technical documentation.

What Should the Declaration Include?

The declaration should include identification of the packaging, manufacturer details, a statement of responsibility, the applicable PPWR requirements and relevant standards or technical specifications.

It must be prepared for the specific packaging concerned and supported by the appropriate technical documentation.
