The EU Declaration of Conformity is the manufacturer's formal declaration that the PPE complies with the applicable EU requirements. It identifies the product, manufacturer, applicable legislation and relevant standards used to demonstrate conformity.

When Is a Declaration of Conformity Required for PPE?

PPE covered by Regulation (EU) 2016/425 requires an EU Declaration of Conformity before it is placed on the EU market. The declaration forms part of the conformity documentation required for CE marking.

What Should the Declaration Include?

The declaration should include the PPE identification, manufacturer details, a statement that the declaration is issued under the manufacturer's sole responsibility, applicable EU legislation and relevant harmonised standards. Where applicable, details of the notified body and conformity assessment procedure must also be included.
