When Is the UKCA Mark Required?

The UKCA mark can be used for products covered by relevant product safety legislation in Great Britain. However, CE marking continues to be recognised indefinitely for many product regulations, so switching to UKCA is not generally mandatory for those products.

Different rules apply in Northern Ireland, where UKCA cannot be used on its own.

Which Products Can Use the UKCA Mark?

UKCA applies to many regulated product categories, including toys, electrical equipment, machinery and personal protective equipment.

Whether UKCA can be used and which conformity assessment requirements apply depends on the product and the relevant UK legislation.

How Should the UKCA Mark Be Used?

The UKCA marking must be visible, legible and applied in accordance with the requirements applicable to the product. When the mark is enlarged or reduced, its official proportions must be maintained.

The UKCA mark should only be applied when the product falls within the relevant UK legislation and the applicable conformity requirements have been met.
