What is Personal Protective Equipment testing?
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) refers to products designed to protect users against risks to health or safety. This includes items such as safety gloves, protective clothing, safety footwear, and respiratory equipment.
In the EU, PPE is regulated under Regulation (EU) 2016/425. Most PPE products require CE marking, which confirms compliance with applicable standards. PPE is divided into three categories:
- Category I: Protection against minimal risks
- Category II: Protection against risks not classified as minimal or high risk
- Category III: Protection against serious or irreversible risks
Compliance is formalized through CE marking and supported by a complete EU Declaration of Conformity.
