The CE mark indicates that a product complies with the applicable EU requirements for CE marking. Download the CE mark in SVG, PNG and PDF and learn when it is required and how it must be used.

When Is the CE Mark Required?

CE marking is mandatory for products covered by EU legislation that specifically requires it. Before applying the mark, the manufacturer must identify the applicable requirements, complete the required conformity assessment and prepare the necessary technical documentation and EU Declaration of Conformity.

CE marking should not be applied to products for which EU legislation does not require it.

Which Products Need the CE Mark?

CE marking applies to many regulated product categories, including toys, electrical and electronic equipment, machinery, personal protective equipment, radio equipment and certain medical devices.

The applicable requirements and conformity assessment procedure depend on the product and the EU legislation covering it.

How Should the CE Mark Be Used?

The CE marking must be visible, legible and indelible. Where the applicable legislation permits, it may in certain circumstances be placed on the packaging or accompanying documents instead of directly on the product.

When the CE mark is enlarged or reduced, its official proportions must be maintained. The minimum height is generally 5 mm unless specific EU legislation provides otherwise.

The UKCA mark is a conformity marking for certain regulated products placed on the market in Great Britain. Download the UKCA mark in SVG, PNG and PDF and learn when it applies and how it can be used.

When Is the UKCA Mark Required?

The UKCA mark can be used for products covered by relevant product safety legislation in Great Britain. However, CE marking continues to be recognised indefinitely for many product regulations, so switching to UKCA is not generally mandatory for those products.

Different rules apply in Northern Ireland, where UKCA cannot be used on its own.

Which Products Can Use the UKCA Mark?

UKCA applies to many regulated product categories, including toys, electrical equipment, machinery and personal protective equipment.

Whether UKCA can be used and which conformity assessment requirements apply depends on the product and the relevant UK legislation.

How Should the UKCA Mark Be Used?

The UKCA marking must be visible, legible and applied in accordance with the requirements applicable to the product. When the mark is enlarged or reduced, its official proportions must be maintained.

The UKCA mark should only be applied when the product falls within the relevant UK legislation and the applicable conformity requirements have been met.
